Trafford is leading the way in green skills development, with initiatives such as the Green Skills Academy and Green Careers Week playing a key role in supporting the borough’s ambition to reach net‑zero emissions by 2038.

These programmes are helping build a workforce ready for the future, equipping local people and employers with the skills needed for a low‑carbon economy.

Following the Siemens Decarbonisation Strategy, Trafford Park is set to become a leading low‑carbon hub. The area will shift from being the borough’s largest source of emissions to a centre focused on energy efficiency and low‑carbon technologies.

Across Trafford’s town centres, the Council is also working with partners to help local SMEs decarbonise, supporting businesses as they transition to cleaner, more sustainable operations.

Trafford is investing in practical green initiatives, from CargoCycle Trafford (which subsidises cargo bike use for cleaner freight deliveries) to programmes that support greener business operations.

The Bee Net Zero partnership and the Green Growth Service also offer expert advice to help local companies reduce emissions and improve resource efficiency.
