Famous for one of Greater Manchester’s most iconic landmarks, Old Trafford Football Stadium, Stretford is a vibrant and evolving town at the heart of Trafford.

Significant investment is currently transforming its centre, bringing exciting improvements for residents, visitors, and businesses.

With its own Metrolink stop, multiple bus routes, and direct access to the M60, Stretford is exceptionally well‑connected to the borough and beyond.

Stretford is undergoing a major transformation, with significant investment reshaping the town for the future.

The redevelopment of the town centre is well underway, replacing the outdated 1960s Mall with a contemporary retail and leisure destination that will also introduce 600 new residential units, bringing new life and activity into the area.

At the heart of the redevelopment will be a new public square, designed to host community events and provide a welcoming space for residents and visitors alike.

Across the road from the King Street shopping area, 53 new homes are also being built on the former Lacy Street car park (once home to a Royal Mail sorting office) to further support Stretford's regeneration.

Green travel is at the core of the Stretford Masterplan, shaping a more sustainable and people‑friendly future for the town.

The transformation of Kingsway (once a four‑lane highway) and the addition of a new retail walking circuit through the proposed park are designed to promote active travel, all while contributing to Trafford’s zero-carbon agenda.
